Beauty is such a personal thing. I think it's only natural for us to gravitate to what speaks to our souls, either musically, artistically, or in literature or nature. While a personal aesthetic may change over time, I believe there is such a thing as lasting beauty. Can the beautiful things in our lives be sustainable & environmentally responsible?

I think so.

Everything I create comes from something else. With very few exceptions, my materials, supplies, tools, and embellishments are recycled, reclaimed, found, or purchased second (or third or fourth) hand. I make lots of my own decorative papers from our junk mail. My books all have an insert with suggestions for recycling or reusing their components. Even my packaging is purchased from a company that uses recycled materials to make compostable bags. 

…but why, though?

In our increasingly fast-paced world full of disposable everything, lots of people get to feeling overwhelmed with all the STUFF.  At least I did.  My creations are made using a combination of original art and recycled/repurposed materials, sourced from thrift and resale stores benefitting local charities. It is very important to me to keep things from ending up in a landfill. Black Bear Biz products are something you as a consumer can feel good about purchasing. Many of my creations are one of a kind. Some are small batch productions. Either way, I strive to make as little impact as possible on our glorious Mother Earth.
